Residents in Nyanga to expect temporary roadworks

The City of Cape Town’s Road Infrastructure Management Department commenced with the resurfacing of roads in Nyanga today, 12 September 2023. Work is expected to be complete early October 2023, weather permitting. 

The roadworks will take place from Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 17:30. Where required, sections of the road works may be scheduled for night work between 19:00 and 06:00.

The following roads will be resurfaced:

• Great Dutch Street from Ntlangano Street to Emjodo Street
• Ntlangano Crescent from Great Dutch Street to Miller Street
• Amplankeni Crescent from Great Dutch Street to Miller Street
• Duma Close from Debeza Street to Gugulethu 7 Memorial
  
  The following work will be done and may require evening or weekend work where necessary:

• Manholes and catchpits will be raised where required, to make them flush with the road
• Replacement of damaged manholes, catchpits where required
• Road pavement and surfacing maintenance
• All existing road markings shall be referenced and reinstated with road marking paint
  
  'We would like to advise the public and business entities of roadworks along these roads in Nyanga over the next few weeks. Our Roads Infrastructure Management team in the Athlone district will be very busy resurfacing these roads, residents can therefore expect a level of noise pollution during this time. We ask that road users please remain patient with our teams as they try to complete the job as efficiently as possible. This is part of our ongoing efforts to maintain Cape Town's vast road network which is one of our biggest assets,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
